I was wondering... did any of you try to watch anything in 3D at home? What comes to my mind is TV sets screens with 3D support (like Sony, Toshiba and others). Also, Sony (maybe others as well) nad some VAIO F series laptops with 3D screens.

And most importantly, did Avatar ever come out in 3D version on Blue Ray?

A friend of mine has a 3D TV at home... a Samsung? I'd have to check it...
It's pretty nice. Not as impressive as in the theater, of course, but it's still looking great. The glasses you have to wear are lighter and more comfortable than the ones you're wearing in the theater.

And yes, there's an Avatar 3D version out there, I think it hit the stores last Christmas? I haven't bought it as I don't have an 3D TV at home.

I had a 55" Panasonic plasma 3D capable TV. I also bought that Panasonic 3D bundle which came with a copy of the 3D Blu-Ray of Avatar.

I think I watched it once in 3D.

So how does it feel? I gues 3D as 3D works, but overall feeling is...?

I liked it.

I think the TV needs a certain size to really show the effects, but when you have that it's really good.

If you wanna try it, I'd suggest you go into one of those electronic markets and check out what they have there and see for yourself.

Mine is 48 inches, but I am yet to find the 3D googles... So I will do a research prior to travelling in December and get them while passing through Frankfurt. I have some nearly 6 hours stopover, so it should be sufficient if I am quick... 30 minutes to get out of the airport, 30+ minutes to get a train (8 or 9 if I remember well) to the city centre, 5 minutes to the Zeil, enter Saturn, find my 3D googles (compatible with Toshiba TV), get something for kids, rush back to the airport... and hopefuly not miss my next flight, lol.

Nah... 3D is overrated...

Agree with 3 posters above me with one exception, an exception that involves IMAX and J. Cameron. I watched few other films at the proper IMAX cinema, but nothing comes even close to the quality and accuracy of 3D in Avatar.

To me it's somehow unnecessary. I can live very well without it. Maybe a kind of 'treat' here and there, but always? Good HD is already mindblowing enough in my eyes. (bad pun there)

Nawm has a 3D TV at his work that we can use, so we've watched Avatar there a bunch of times. Usually when someone we know says they've never seen Avatar, we drag them there to watch it properly.
But it's not the same as in the theatre though. It focuses very much on the foreground, and the background tends to be slightly out of focus. I miss the overall crispness that you do have with the 2D Blu-ray, that allows you to catch every little detail, anywhere in the screen.

I never had blueray rip in my hands, but I got a blueray rip, nearly 22GB MKV file... It took me about 2 to 3 weeks to download, but it was well worth waiting. People don't even kno whow good TV sets they have till I play THAT.
